January 28th marks the day that I started an experiment titled none other than “Jen’s Experiment”. It came to me after reading an incredible book by the lovely Kris Carr ~ Crazy Sexy Diet.
Long story short, Kris was diagnosed with a form of cancer in her abdomen. Instead of having a number of surgeries, not knowing if they would work or not, she decided to take matters into her own hands (while enlisting the help of many others). Since her diagnosis, she has put the tumors at bay through her lifestyle changes. The book goes into great detail about the diagnosis and the process she went though and I would highly encourage you to check it out.
It is a book that really confirms how much we can actually control for our health ~ and yet, it is so often overlooked or not even mentioned. Intuitively I have known this to be truth. This, in fact, is one of the main reasons I studied with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition ~ because I know that, as a whole, we are really missing the mark on health and wellness.
As I read through Kris’ book, I again realized that the education I have, the ability that I have is to support lives being saved. I can radically support others in living a life of health and happiness. As I pondered this thought, I knew something needed to drastically change within my family. I had recently been to my Uncle’s funeral ~ the third in as many years (since that time, a 4th Uncle has passed) ~ and I would say there is a definite chance these could have been prevented through lifestyle changes.
