. . . there’s no place like home.
What can we learn from the Wizard of Oz? This classic tale has many interpretations but the one that I love has to do with Dorothy.
Dorothy is on a journey that brings her away from her Kansas home and to a place she desires.
“It’s not a place you can get to by boat or train.
It’s far, far away. Beyond the moon, beyond the rain.”
Somewhere over the rainbow . . .
Dreams you dare to dream really do come true . . .
As the tale goes, Dorothy goes over the rainbow, far, far away, beyond the moon and rain. She doesn’t travel by boat or by train. She has an exciting journey but there is one resonating theme throughout the entire trip.
Dorothy is doing everything she can in order to return to Kansas. She asks for help and invites others to join her on her journey to get back to Kansas.
The message that I love in this tale is near the end of the movie . . .
Dorothy sees Glinda, the good witch and asks for her help.
Glinda: “You don’t need to be helped any longer. You’ve always had the power to go back to Kansas.”
Dorothy: “I have?”
Scarecrow: “Then why didn’t you tell her before?”
Glinda: “Because she wouldn’t have believed me. She had to learn it for herself.”
In a self-revelation, she realizes that everything she could have ever wanted was right in her own backyard ~ IF she had wanted it badly enough.
As I continue on my own personal journey, this thought comes to mind. Everything I’ve ever wanted to do or have; starts with who I become. I need to become the person that it would take to do or have all that I desire. The best part, I just need to want it badly enough. The message has been delivered to me before, but I needed to realize it and understand it for myself.
I think it is easy for us to get caught up in what others can do for us and we rely on that which is outside of us. However, the key, the real key to living the life of your desires . . . is realizing that you already have everything you ever wanted! If you don’t have something that you want, it’s because you haven’t wanted it badly enough!
Take a moment and look at the life you are living right now. What do you want to change? Do you want that badly enough? The choice is yours. What you have in your life today, is a reflection of the choices you are making. Is it time to make a change?
