“Try not to become a man (woman) of success. Rather become a man (woman) of value.” – Albert Einstein
I’ve always been a searcher and seeker, exploring and moving forward, doing my best along the way. Ever since I can remember, I knew I was meant to help others. I didn’t know what that looked like but I remember knowing that I would be helping people.
Along my journey I would seek the advice of people older than me, especially those that seemed to have a “better connection” to God. If I could go back and tell that little girl (me) anything, it would be “You have the most amazing connection to God already and that still, small voice you hear – that is God speaking through you.”
And, if I could tell you, my reader, anything, I would share, “Same with you. You also have that connection, always have and always will. It’s up to you to realize it, embrace it, and use it.”
As a 37 year old adult, I remind myself of those words everyday and I keep moving forward on this path. Although it isn’t always clear cut, it is always a choice that I get to make with each moment.
Over the past 4 1/2 years I’ve decided to ditch traditional thinking which means ditching the traditional path of the corporate ladder and job security. I’ve ditched playing small and I’ve ditched doing things that only give my money and security yet they don’t light up my life. That means I’ve ditched just about everything I’ve been programmed (most of us have) to do and think. I’ve ditched society’s ways of telling me how to live.
And I feel alive and amazing because of it!
What I can say for certain is that I have a deep seated passion for supporting, serving, and loving others. I always have. For the first 32 years of my life, though, I didn’t know that I could be one that shared a message that mattered. In fact, knowing I wanted to “help people” (but not knowing what it meant) I ended up taking classes in Criminal Justice so I could ultimately become an FBI Agent! During that time, when I was going to school, I was working for the all-male maximum security prison in St. Cloud, Minnesota – as a Corrections Officer. It seems crazy now when I think about it – how far removed I am from that time is incredible.
When we know better, we do better.
As a 25 year old with a 4 year old daughter, something felt off and I left that position. For the next 7 years I continued searching and seeking and eventually was in the place that helped me remember my connection and remember that I get to choose the life I lead. And now, I get to help others do the same.
Confession . . . as I set out to start my own business, I knew one thing: I knew that I spent 32 years feeling not good enough and if I was able to change my life in just a two months, then I wanted to help others change too.
What did I have toward starting a business? PASSION and COMMITMENT to serving and supporting others. That’s it. I didn’t have a background in marketing or a business degree. I didn’t have the slightest clue where to begin or what to do and that didn’t matter. For the first time in my life, I felt alive.
Over the past few years, since starting my business, I’ve had other MAJOR distractions that have pulled me from dedicating my time to growing. Mind you, these distractions were my choice – like being a Captain with the Minneapolis Aquatennial – super cool! I was also the Program Director for the Aquatennial Ambassador Organization Candidate Program – it’s amazing being able to support nearly 50 young women from across the state! These are DREAMS of mine that I never thought were possible – yet because I changed my life, I was able to step into these opportunities. During this time of “distraction”, I was also given an incredible blessing.
The blessing I’ve been given is the KNOWING that I’m meant to serve and support in this way. I’m meant to inspire, uplift, and empower others through sharing my story. I know that I have a unique and incredible gift in the way that hold space for others during their growth. I absolutely LOVE speaking and writing and sharing a message of love and hope through my words. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from, you have been given life and now it’s your time to choose to live it.
If you’ve been with me for any amount of time, you’ve probably witnessed some changes (starting first as a Certified Holistic Health Counselor – supporting others on their health and wellness journey and then moving into primarily life coaching and now I primarily speak and write, with a handful of AMAZING clients I have the pleasure of working with). Moving forward, there will probably be additional changes as I up-level and implement more growth into my life, but one thing will always remain the same – my passion and commitment to you. YOU are the reason I get to do what I do and I’m extremely grateful. The ability to inspire even one person to see themselves in the light of love – that is the reason I move through my days. Thank you for blessing me each day.
So, what does all of this mean and why I am sharing it? It’s time I take my business to the next level and implement real business strategies. With the help of others making the choice for me, my plate is cleared of anything that is distracting me and pulling me away from my point of focus – you and growing my business – which means growing how I get to support you. With that in mind, I’ve already implemented some new things. If you’re reading this, you might have already seen the changes to my website. That will be continually improving as I have more resources to put toward making it a better experience for you.
Additionally, I’ll be adding an events area to my site so you can find me around the town and get connected personally. It is my goal that as I grow, my connect-ability remains the same. I have BIG visions for sharing my message – stages, platforms, retreats – yet, the most important is staying connected to you. If you’ve noticed, I always invite you to reach out to me personally. This will remain the same. One of the most immediate events that I’m hosting starts tonight and it’s once a month – Love: A Conversation. If you’re in and around the Twin Cities, I truly hope you’ll join me. It is a donation-based event – again because what matters most is sharing the message of love and hope. Please consider attending. You can learn more here. I’m deeply passionate and excited about this event and feel it will be my Signature Event going forward – sharing a space to be inspired and uplifted.
As mentioned, I’m planning on implementing real business strategies and it is my intention that I will participate in Marie Forleo’s B-School – enrollment opens today and goes through March 5th. I don’t make a cent promoting this and I’m not even an affiliate – I just love Marie and her work! I love it so much that I created a video to receive a scholarship – not from one, but two places! I sent one video to Marie and one video to Sean. 90 second video for Marie – click here. 2 minute video for Sean – click here. SUPER excited about BSchool and what it will do for me and my business, which means supporting you! YES!!!! (Oh, what’s B-School? It’s like a business academy for entrepreneurs, like me!)
Finally, having a real heart and passion for serving and supporting you, I ask you this – Is there anything you need or desire that I can do for you? Anything you hope I’d share that I haven’t or that you hope I share more of? Anything else you’d like to share about this journey, your journey or where we can go together? I’m all ears and I’m here for you. Feel free to post in the comments or reach out to me directly at info [at] inspiringradiance [dot] com.
I look forward to hearing from you and I especially look forward to serving and supporting you further! Blessings and Namaste xoxo
